About the Parade
The 2026 Puerto Rican Parade takes place on Sunday, September 13th, with celebrations building all weekend starting Friday, September 11th. This year’s theme, “Como el Coquí,” honors the spirit of Puerto Rico: small in stature, but full of heart, energy, and pride, echoing through every drumbeat, every dance step, and every hand-painted float.
The parade marches through Downtown Springfield, with activities running from 11 am to 4 pm.
Where to Watch and What to Expect
The Springfield Puerto Rican Parade has spent 36 years celebrating Puerto Rican culture, and 2026 is shaping up to be one of its biggest yet. Expect over 10,000 spectators, more than 120 participating groups, and upward of 4,000 marchers filling the route. That route starts on Main Street, winds through Wason Avenue, and finishes on Boland Way, giving spectators plenty of prime viewing spots along the way.
Music, dance, and artistic floats will carry the Puerto Rican community’s pride and heritage through every block. Arrive early to claim your spot, and come prepared with water, a blanket or portable chair, sunscreen, and bug spray. Parade days move fast, so stay warm and plan ahead for a comfortable afternoon.
If you want to make a full weekend of it, the celebration kicks off Friday, September 11th, from 7:30 to 9:30 am with the Community Kickoff Breakfast at Wyckoff Country Club. Guests enjoy a full buffet breakfast, fresh cafecito, honoree and sponsor recognition, and a first taste of this year’s “Como el Coquí” theme, alongside plenty of community networking.
Then on Saturday, September 12th, lace up for the Second Annual Pa’lante 5K, a run built around purpose as much as pace. Organizers describe it as more than a race, a movement that invites the community to honor its roots and celebrate health and heritage together. Runners should plan to finish within about an hour, and this year introduces a brand-new walking route!
